The Sovereignty of God

Where can we find genuine hope in a world that appears to be falling apart at the seams?  At critical points in human history, in the midst of war, disease, poverty and persecution, the people of God have turned to find solace in the doctrines of God's eternal decrees and sovereign purpose in the creation and salvation of men.  One such time was 1939 during the rise of Adolph Hitler and the dawn of the second World War.  In June of that year, a number of pastors and ministers of the Gospel were compelled to hold a conference in Paterson, New Jersey to celebrate the Sovereignty of God.

We welcome all interested pastors and lay leaders to Haledon, NJ to this special historic conference to honor and remember The Sovereignty of God Conference on its 70th year anniversary.  We wish to give thanks to God and honor the men from our past who prayed for the propagation of the doctrines of God's sovereign grace in the New Jersey area. 

Towards these ends, six local pastors, joined by two key note speakers (Dr. James White and Pastor Eric Redmond) are gathering together from June 22-24, 2009 to encourage the church at this most anxious time in our nation, that we can fully trust a sovereign God who has lovingly and providentially ordained human history for His glory and the good of His people.

From Northeast:
Route 17 South to Route 4 West. Bear right at fork onto Rt. 208 (1.9 mi). Take the Fair
Lawn Ave West ramp onto Fair Lawn Ave (0.5 mi). Turn right onto River Rd (0.6 mi).
Stay straight to go onto Wagaraw Rd. Continue to follow Wagaraw Rd. (1.3 mi).
Wagaraw Rd. becomes Goffle Rd. (0.2 mi). Turn slight right onto N 7th St. (0.5 mi). Turn
right onto Haledon Ave (0.9 mi). Pass intersection of Haledon/Belmont (Dunkin Donuts
& Big Jim’s Restaurant). Make next sharp left turn onto Pompton Rd (0.1 mi). Turn right
at Morrissee Avenue Ext.

From Northwest:
Route 23 S. Turn left onto Jackson Ave. (0.2 mi). Jackson Ave becomes Pompton
Plains Crossroads / CR-680 (0.5 mi). Turn right onto Black Oak Ridge Rd (0.4 mi).
Turn left onto Jackson Ave. (0.8 mi). Bear slight right onto Hamburg Tpke. / Paterson
Hamburg Tpk / CR-689. (3.0 mi) Turn left onto Pompton Rd. (1.0 mi). At fork (large
billboard) stay to right – and just after fork, make first right onto Morrissee Ave. Ext.

From South:
Garden State Parkway North. Keep left to take NJ-19 N via Exit 155P toward I-80 W/
PATERSON (2.2 mi). Take the Grand St/ I-80 W exit toward DEL WATER GAP (0.1
mi). Take the Grand St exit (0.1 mi). Turn right onto Grand St. (0.2 mi). Turn left onto
Main St (0.5 mi). Turn slight left onto W Broadway (0.5 mi). Turn right onto Belmont
Ave. (1.2 mi). Turn left onto Haledon Ave. (0.1 mi). Sharp left turn onto Pompton Rd.
(0.1 mi). Turn right at Morrissee Avenue Ext.

From East:
Route I-80 West. Take the Main St exit, exit 57C, toward Paterson (0.2 mi).
Turn left onto Main St (0.7 mi). Turn slight left onto W. Broadway (0.5 mi). Turn right
onto Belmont Ave (1.2 mi). Pass Tanis Hardware on left, to light. Turn left onto
Haledon Ave. (0.1 mi). Sharp left turn onto Pompton Rd. (0.1 mi). Turn right at
Morrissee Avenue Ext.

From West:
Route 80 East to exit 57B/Downtown Paterson onto Route 19 (0.3 mi). Take
Downtown Paterson left exit onto Ward St. Turn left on Ward St (0.1 mi). Turn left on
Main St. (0.3 mi). Bear left onto W Broadway (0.5 mi). Turn right onto Belmont Ave.
(1.2 mi). Pass Tanis Hardware on left, to light. Turn left onto Haledon Ave. (0.1 mi).
Sharp left turn onto Pompton Rd. (0.1 mi). Turn right at Morrissee Avenue Ext.
From South (Alternate Route)
Take Route 21 N follow signs to Route 20 N. (Stay to right and pass Route 4 and
Broadway). Route 20, bends around to the left. Exit on left at 10th Ave (Paterson). Take
to the end. Make right and then the next quick left onto Lafayette St. Take it to the end
– the Straight Street Bridge. Go straight through light and over bridge. Stay straight
and you'll be on Haledon Ave. Take to end (1 block past Belmont Ave). It will turn into
Pompton Rd (just past the Dunkin Donuts and Big Jim's restaurant). Right after you
cross over Belmont Ave, make the sharp left and then a right quick right onto Morrissee
Ave Ext.
(Alternate Route in Downtown Paterson to avoid Main St.)
NJ-19 ends at Ward St. Go one block and go left on Cianci St. Bear right onto Curtis
Place, which bends around near the river. Make left onto W. Broadway to go over river.
Follow directions above from W. Broadway.

From the West (Alternate Route):
Take 46 East to Union Blvd Exit towards Totowa. Stay on Union Blvd about 1.5 miles,
thru several lights, pass 2 cemeteries. Go to light at corner of Richmond Ave.
Make left onto Richmond. Go about 1/4 mile, make right onto Chamberlain. Go all the
way to end (approx 3/4 mi). Safe Storage will be in front of you. At that light, make a left
onto West Broadway. Go up to light. Morningside Florist will be in front of you.
Make extreme right onto Barbour Street. Take this all the way down to end to Belmont
Ave. (1/4 mi). At light, make left onto Belmont Ave. Continue on Belmont, pass Tanis
Hardware on left, to light (Big Jim's Pizza on left, Dunkin Donuts on right) Make left at
that light onto Haledon Ave. Make very next sharp left onto one way street Pompton
Rd. Turn at first right Morrissee Ave. Ext.
