Blue Ridge Institute for Theological Education

Vision

Much like the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals, the Blue Ridge Institute for Theological Education desires to foster a Reformed and confessional awakening throughout the evangelical church in the Southwestern Virginia region and North America more broadly.

Mission

The purpose of the Blue Ridge Institute for Theological Education (BRITE) is to serve the church in all branches of Protestant Christianity by preparing its students to be more faithful and effective church members and followers of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Institute seeks to accomplish this by teaching and equipping its students through a program of graduate level theological education, a variety of training seminars, courses, and conferences, with all content based upon the authority of the inerrant Word of God, the sixty-six books of the Bible, and committed to the Reformed faith.

A foundational desire for BRITE is that it would further the health of the church by cultivating biblically, historically, theologically-rooted churchmen and women who will take what they have learned in classroom, in internship, and in mentoring, and inculcate those same priorities in the life of their own local congregation–thus further bolstering the health and vitality of the church of the Lord Jesus Christ for generations to come.

Like the Alliance, BRITE has striven to form a network of likeminded confessional pastors, teachers, scholars, and lay people throughout our region in order to labor together that we might educate and equip future church leaders and today’s Christian servants. For those for whom traditional seminary education is not an option, it is the mission of BRITE to bring the seminary to the church pews: for the glory of God and for the health of his people.

Winter Seminar

BRITE and the Alliance share a vision to bring quality, confessional theological education and resources to everyday Christians, to pastors laboring faithfully, and to classes of future church leaders and ministers. The Alliance has partnered with BRITE to highlight and promote BRITE’s Winter Seminar, an annual January conference designed to both educate theological students and equip church members to help cultivate healthier churches.
