Pascal put it best when he developed the notions of distraction and diversion: the things, the activities and preferences, which human beings develop to draw them away from thinking about reality, especially death.  A good example is provided by the latest business venture of the Osteens: a radio show which you can read about here.  Hey, if Oprah and the Donald like it, it cannot be all bad, surely?

My favourite line has to be this: "With the rise of the Islamic State terror group and a plethora of negative headlines, Osteen said that he's hoping his radio outfit can help listeners turn toward their faith and trust more fervently in God."

Charlie Chaplin put it better, and Babs (we are not worthy!) and Tony sang it better.  Plus, why molesworth_reasonably_small.jpgpay for such teaching when it is free on Youtube.
